Did you know that the average American eats 154 hamburgers every year?
Restaurants across the country serve an array of creative options, including those near our Uptown Fort Worth apartments where the patties are grilled to perfection:
When Tom Armenti decided to open a burger joint that stayed open late into the night, Fat Shack was born. With only $5,000, he partnered with a bagel shop. When it closed after lunch, Tom ran the restaurant between 6:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m. It was an instant success. Today, Fat Shack has several locations. They offer made-order burgers in a fun, casual atmosphere. Enjoy The Single, The Classic, or The Supreme with a vanilla milkshake and deep-fried chocolate cookies for dessert.
With burgers and brews, it’s no wonder that Dutch’s is one of the most popular eateries in town. It’s found inside the historic building next to the longtime TCU Theater. The setting takes back to a bygone era and comes complete with a shotgun counter fronted by classic bar stools. Soft lighting hangs from the ceiling, and guests can watch the chefs work in the open kitchen. Burgers include Dutch, Texana, and Vaquero. On the side, try the fried pickles and chili cheese fries.
Celebrating 35 years in Fort Worth, Tommy’s Hamburgers is where everyone knows your name. The restaurant began from humble beginnings inside a Texaco convenience store. Today, the Camp Bowie location boasts an eclectic setting with funky antiques and hand-painted murals. In the kitchen, the chefs make the burgers to order. They use fresh ingredients and serve during lunch and dinner. Choices include jalapeno cheddar, bacon brie, and green chile goat cheese.
